Peyton takes down Eli again in Manning bowl

Peyton Manning again beat younger brother Eli, throwing two touchdown passes to lead the Denver Broncos past the New York Giants 41-23 in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on Sunday.

As their ex-National Football League quarterback father Archie Manning watched, Peyton took his third triumph in as many tries over Eli, although the elder sibling’s first two came when he played for the Indianapolis Colts instead of the Broncos.

“I think both of us are glad that it’s over with,” Peyton Manning said. “Not many other players have to go through it, so you can’t ask too many people for advice. It’s strange circumstances. Good team win — just a unique situation.”

Peyton Manning got this win with a huge boost from Knowshon Moreno, who rushed for two touchdowns and 93 yards. Denver (2-0), which has won 13 straight regular-season games, rushed for 109 yards altogether.

Peyton Manning didn’t need to match his record-equaling seven touchdown passes from the Broncos’ season-opening victory. They also allowed Trindon Holliday’s spectacular 81-yard punt return for a TD, the first such score in the league this season.

Eli Manning, who has two Super Bowl titles to only one for Peyton, went 28-of-49 for 362 yards for New York (0-2) but was picked off four times after being intercepted only 15 times in all of last season.

Peyton, five years older than Eli at 37, expressed doubt that he will see another brother match-up unless it comes in the Super Bowl.

“Postseason is one thing, but I don’t think I will make it to the next regular season one,” he said.

Elsewhere in the NFL on Sunday, it was: Chiefs 17, Cowboys 16; Texans 30, Titans 24 (in overtime); Packers 38, Redskins 20; Bears 31, Vikings 30; Falcons 31, Rams 24; Chargers 33, Eagles 30; Dolphins 24, Colts 20; Ravens 14, Browns 6; Bills 24, Panthers 23; Cardinals 25, Lions 21; Saints 16, Buccaneers 14; Raiders 19, Jaguars 9; and Seahawks 29, 49ers 3.
