Welker gets doping ban

DENVER Broncos receiver Wes Welker was suspended four games on Tuesday by the National Football League for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy, a major setback for a Super Bowl squad. A powerful part of the NFL’s most productive scoring attack in history, Welker helped Denver reach the Super Bowl last season, where the Broncos were humbled 8-43 by the Seattle Seahawks. Welker tested positive for amphetamines in May, according to the NFL’s website.
