China's Liu confident of medal at London Games
CHINA'S former Olympic champion high hurdler Liu Xiang is confident he can get back to top form and win a medal at the 2012 London Olympics despite his injury problems.
The former 110m hurdles world champion finished seventh at last week's world indoor championships in Doha, his first major international race since an Achilles injury caused him to limp out of his first heat at the 2008 Beijing Games.
Although the 26-year-old said after the race in Qatar that the injury was still bothering him, he remained upbeat about his chances of being competitive in London.
"I am confident about a podium at London Olympics but it would be great just to get to the final," he wrote in his blog (liuxiang.qzone.qq.com).
Liu said Cuban Dayron Robles, the Beijing Games gold medallist and current world record holder, was always going to be the favourite for gold in London.
"Robles is awesome. He is excellent in all aspects," he wrote.
