Ennis sets UK record
JESSICA Ennis boosted her London Olympic ambitions yesterday by setting a British heptathlon record at the Hypo Meeting in Goetzis, Austria.
European and former world champion Ennis beat the 12-year-old record of former Olympic champion Denise Lewis by 75 points. She finished with 6,906 points to win the IAAF World Challenge event for a third straight year.
Ennis said: "I need to work on my high jump but I am now where I wanted to be this time of the year."
World champion Tatyana Chernova of Russia took silver with 6,774 points while Lyudmyla Yosypenko of Ukraine came in third on 6,501.
