Guo rumors after Asian Games snub
CHINA'S Guo Jingjing, the most successful female athlete in Olympic diving, will miss the Asian Games in Guangzhou later this year sparking fresh rumors she will retire.
The 29-year-old is one of China's most famous female athletes after winning four Olympic gold medals and numerous world titles but has not competed since December's East Asian Games. "We have selected a 20-member provisional squad for the diving events at the Guangzhou Asian Games, and Guo Jingjing is not included," Zhou Jihong, the head of the diving team, told Xinhua news agency. "The squad will be eventually cut down to 16. Guo's name will not appear on the roster, that is for sure. Whether she will resume training or retire, we have to wait and see." The 2010 Asian Games will take place on November 12-27.
