Jamaica's Bolt injured in car crash

WORLD record sprinter Usain Bolt of Jamaica suffered minor injuries on Wednesday when he crashed his BMW sports car on the outskirts of his Caribbean homeland's capital, authorities said.

The 22-year-old 100 and 200 meters Olympic champion lost control of the high-powered vehicle and plowed into a ditch on Wednesday afternoon. He was treated in hospital along with his brother and a female companion after injuring his left foot as he stepped out of the car, but was later released. The injury may see Bolt miss an invitational athletics meeting in Kingston on Saturday. The sprinter is also slated to run in a 150 meters street race in Manchester, Britain, on May 17. Bolt was given the BMW by his sponsor Puma for his Olympic performances.
