Liu back in US for more foot treatment
CHINA'S former Olympic champion hurdler Liu Xiang has returned to the United States looking for reassurance from doctors about his injured foot, local media reported.
The 27-year-old underwent an operation in the US in late 2008 on the damaged Achilles tendon that forced him out of the Beijing Olympics but he felt sharp pain again after months of heavy training, his father told the Beijing Youth Daily. "He has trained harder since June and the foot had some reaction," Liu Xuegen told the paper. "So he wanted to consult the American doctors as to whether such training is harmful to his foot, and whether such pain is within the normal limit." Former 110-meter hurdles Olympic and world champion Liu has completed only six races since the Beijing Games, most recently at the Diamond League meeting in his home city of Shanghai in May.
