Liu on verge of resuming training

FORMER Olympic champion Liu Xiang is on the verge of returning to China to resume training following Achilles tendon surgery two months ago in Houston, Texas.

A statement on Liu's Website said he would return to China from the United States in early March, and might resume training sooner than that. The Xinmin Evening News quoted Liu's coach Sun Haiping as saying training on the hurdles will only resume when Liu returns. Sun has said he will compete at the World Championships in August at Berlin if he's able to run the 110-meter hurdles in 13.20 seconds. Liu, the 2004 Olympic champion, limped off the track at the Beijing Olympics. He underwent Achilles' tendon surgery in December.
