Liu to warm up for Doha at indoor meet
THE Chinese Athletics Association has scheduled a one-off 60 meters hurdles competition in Shanghai on February 26 to enable Chinese hurdler Liu Xiang prepare for his awaited clash with Cuban Dayron Robles at the World Indoor Championship in Doha next month.
Liu was originally supposed to compete in a 3-leg National Indoor meet in Beijing (March 6-7), Nanjing (March 10-11) and Chengdu (March 30-21), but the 2004 Athens Olympic winner is scheduled to attend the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference in early March. The Doha championship starts from March 12, thus ruling him out of the Nanjing and Chengdu meets as well. Shanghai will only stage two races - qualifying and the final - of the 60m hurdles at Liu's training base in Xinzhuang ahead of Doha. It will be his first major international
competition since making a return from injury in September last year.
