Powell pulls out of meet

ASAFA Powell has pulled out of today's Diamond League meeting at Crystal Palace because of back trouble, organizers said yesterday.
The Jamaican sprinter made the decision after seeing a doctor in London.
"I visited the doctor and he has advised me not to run in order to help the recovery of my injury," Powell said in a statement. "I had hoped it would be better but unfortunately this is not so."
The 27-year-old Powell has been struggling for the past month with a series of injuries linked to an initial groin problem, and said on Wednesday he was monitoring his fitness day by day. Powell, the Diamond Race leader in the 100 meters, also missed last week's meet in Stockholm.
