Chinese players storm into the quarters in Jakarta
CHINESE players marched into the quarterfinals in all five competitions at the 2013 Indonesia Open super series badminton championship yesterday in Jakarta with four women's doubles teams advancing.
Three of the Chinese women's teams were scheduled to clash with Indonesian contenders after they defeated their opponents in qualifying matches yesterday.
No.1 seeded Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang stopped a South Korean duo and will play Anneke Feinya Agustin and Della Destiara Haris of Indonesia, who knocked off an Indian pairing, in the quarterfinals.
China's fourth-seeded team of Ma Jin and Tang Jinhua face seventh-seeded Pia Zebadiah Bernadet and Rizki Amelia Pradipta of Indonesia for a berth in the semifinals.
China's Bao Yixin and Cheng Shu, seeded No.8, meet Indonesians Nigtya Khrisinda Maheswari and Greysa Polii in the quarterfinals. Meanwhile, the fifth-seeded Chinese pairing of Tian Qing and Zhao Yunlei face the winner of a qualifying match between Indonesian and Japanese players.
In men's doubles, China's fifth-seeded Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng reached the quarterfinals and will meet Indonesians Mochamad Achsan and Hendra Setiawan.
Britain's Chris Adcock and Andrew Ellis got a walkover into the quarterfinals after China's Lu Xiaolong and Qiu Zihan withdrew yesterday.
In men's singles, China's Du Pengyu reached the quarterfinals. The eighth-seeded Du takes on Indonesian hopeful Hayom Rumbaka.
In women's singles, China's top-seeded Li Xuerui defeated Japan's Kaori Imabeppu yesterday and will face South Korean Bae Yeon-ju in the quartefinals. Li was a finalist in last year's tournament.
In mixed doubles, third-seeded Chang Nan and Zhao Yunlei of China secured a quarterfinal berth after trashing South Koreans Baek Choel-sin and Ye Na-jang.
