Lin and Liu carry China's Asiad hopes
OLYMPIC badminton champion Lin Dan and 110 meter hurdler Liu Xiang were among the 977 athletes named in China's largest ever Asian Games contingent for next month's event in Guangzhou.
The 1,454-member delegation of athletes, coaches and officials includes 35 Olympic gold medallists but only a third of the athletes competed at the 2008 Beijing Olympics or the 2006 Doha Asian Games as China weighs up its depth of talent. "We hope to spot young talent at the Asian Games and prepare them for the 2012 London Olympics," delegation head Duan Shijie said.
