Lin to meet Jorgensen

WORLD No. 2 Lin Dan needed only 37 minutes to ease past South Korea's Park Sung-hwan 21-10, 21-11 at the China Open in Shanghai yesterday, to set up a final clash with Denmark's Jan Jorgensen today.

World No. 16 Jorgensen ensured there would be no all-China final when he outlasted a hobbling Chen Jin, the fourth seed, 11-21, 21-18, 22-20.

Lin, who took an early 13-4 lead, didn't have much trouble in the first game, with Park only able to collect a few points on his rival's errors.

And as Park continued to struggle with his rhythm in the second game, Lin kept up his momentum to snatch an easy victory.

However, Lin didn't think Park played a bad match. "He played well enough. I watched his match yesterday, because it's always very difficult to play against him."

Today's final will be Lin's first clash with Jorgensen, who also eliminated top seed Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia in the earlier rounds on his way to the final.

"I've never played Jorgensen before," Super Dan said. "He had a terrific season, and tomorrow's final will be a challenge for me."

Earlier, sixth-seeded Jiang Yanjiao of China upset teammate Wang Shixian 21-17, 21-14 to reach the women's singles final.

Jiang will take on another compatriot Wang Xin, who edged fellow Chinese Li Xuerui in a tense 21-19, 21-19 victory.
