Anthony Rendon, the star third baseman for the World Series champion Washington Nationals, has agreed to a seven-year, US$245-million deal with the Los Angeles Angels, US media reported on Wednesday. The deal comes two days after Rendon’s teammate, pitcher Stephen Strasburg, inked an identical contract to remain with the club. The 29-year-old is coming off the best of his seven major league seasons, all of which were spent with the Nationals. Rendon was widely considered the top offensive free agent.
