FORMER National Basketball Association all-star Mookie Blaylock was in critical condition in hospital on Friday night following a fatal head-on smash in suburban Atlanta, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. Police told the newspaper a female passenger in the vehicle that collided with Blaylock's Cadillac Escalade died on Friday evening. She had been taken to hospital in an air ambulance from the scene, located 32 kilometers south of Atlanta. Blaylock, 46, played for the Atlanta Hawks from 1992 to 1999. A two-time, first-team pick to the NBA's all-defensive team, he also played for the Nets (1989-1992) and Warriors (1999-2002).
