Cabrera out for season

Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera suffered a season-ending rupture of his left biceps tendon on Tuesday, the major league team announced. The Venezuelan was hurt while swinging and missing on a third-inning pitch by Minnesota Twins right-hander Jake Odorizzi. The team said he will have season-ending surgery. 鈥淗e feels really bad,鈥 Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire told reporters. 鈥淗e feels like he鈥檚 letting people down. There鈥檚 a guy who鈥檚 a warrior. Total respect for that man. He鈥檚 a hell of a baseball player. Hopefully, we can somehow get through this thing and get him back playing.鈥 An 11-time All Star and two-time American League MVP, the 35-year-old Cabrera is batting .299 with three home runs and 22 RBI in 38 games this season.
