China prepares for Asiad in Florida
CHINESE baseball team is practicing in Florida to get ready for the Asian Games in November, Major League Baseball said on Wednesday.
A group of 26 players will work out at the Vero Beach Sports Village through October 24 and play in Florida's fall instructional league, MLB said. The Asian Games are set for Guangzhou, China, beginning November 12. The Chinese will play 12 exhibition games against MLB Instructional League teams and another game against the Canadian Junior National Team. Former Major League infielder Tom Lawless, who helped coach the Chinese team in 2007-08, will guide the squad along with former Baltimore Orioles left-hander Scott McGregor.
