Wang to undergo shoulder surgery
NEW York Yankees pitcher Wang Chien-ming was to undergo surgery on his injured right shoulder yesterday.
Dr. James Andrews will perform the arthroscopic surgery in Birmingham, Alabama, with no timetable set for the Chinese Taipei pitcher's return, the Yankees said. "It's a tough loss for us," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said on Tuesday. "I feel for him, because he's been through a lot in the last 14 or 15 months, with the (right) foot injury and now this," Giaradi said. "Hopefully, this will be the end of the surgeries for him, and he will have the rest of his career to be healthy." The 29-year-old Wang has been on the disabled list twice this season, the latest since July 5.
