AUSTRALIA won the Asian Cup for the first time in its maiden participation on Sunday, sweeping past three-time champion Iran 79-56 in the final. South Korea took third by seeing off New Zealand 80-71. Defending Asian champion China finished fifth by edging host Lebanon 79-78 in a playoff.
