Blake, Gordon power Clippers past Cavaliers
BLAKE Griffin had 30 points, eight rebounds and eight assists, and Eric Gordon scored 29 as the Los Angeles Clippers beat Cleveland 100-92 on Saturday to end a nine-game losing streak against the Cavaliers.
About 1 1/2 hours before tipoff in Los Angeles, the Staples Center arena was in lockdown while police subdued a knife-wielding man who got past security and ended up in front of the Cavaliers' bench. Both teams were tucked away in their dressing rooms during the tense standoff.
It did not delay the start of the game, which was followed by a National Hockey League contest between the Kings and Anaheim Ducks.
JJ Hickson led the Cavaliers with 28 points and nine rebounds, and Samardo Samuels scored 17 before fouling out with 1:19 remaining.
Elsewhere in the National Basketball Association, it was: Trail Blazers 110, 76ers 101; Celtics 89, Hornets 85; Heat 103, Nuggets 98; Spurs 109, Bobcats 98; and Grizzlies 99, Pacers 78.
In Portland, Oregon, Wesley Matthews had 17 of his 28 points in the first quarter to help Portland beat Philadelphia.
Gerald Wallace added 25 points and a season-high eight assists for the Trail Blazers (40-29), who won for the seventh time in nine games to move within a half-game of Denver, which lost to Miami on Saturday, for the fifth playoff spot in the Western Conference. LaMarcus Aldridge had 18 points and Nicolas Batum finished with 16.
Lou Williams had 24 points, part of a 59-point night for Philadelphia's reserves. Thaddeus Young had 19 points and Jodie Meeks added 17.
The Sixers (36-34) played without Andre Igoudala, who has knee tendinitis.
