CBA game halted as Xinjiang edges Beijing
A CHINESE basketball game of two giants last night was halted for 22 minutes as players pushed and shoved and a fan threw a paper cup of drink to the court.
Xinjiang came from seven points down before the stoppage to beat visiting Beijing 109-108 in the 14th round of the Chinese Basketball Association league.
Two minutes into the fourth quarter, the game was stopped over a disputed call. Players pushed and shouted vulgar remarks as a paper cup of drink hit the floor.
When the game was resumed, Xinjiang pulled off a 10-0 run to overtake Beijing and eventually won by one point.
Stephon Marbury scored his season best of 46 points for the league champions Beijing while Andray Blatche had 43 points and 15 rebounds for Xinjiang, runners-up last season.
