Cavs cool Heat, gain James revenge

LEBRON James's triple double was not enough to help Miami overcome the lowly Cleveland Cavaliers, who beat the playoff-bound Heat 102-90 on Tuesday.

James, who left Cleveland last season to join Miami as a free agent and was roundly booed by the crowd again - he first returned home last December - ended with 27 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds.

The Cavaliers, who won 61 games last season but have struggled without James to a National Basketball Association-worst 15-58 record so far this season, built a 23-point lead on Tuesday and held on to avenge two previous blowout losses to the Heat this season.

"The atmosphere is always good here and the fans are unbelievable. I've always said that," James told reporters despite being relentlessly booed by the crowd. "It's great for their team tonight. Its disappointing (for us) because we took a step backward."

Elsewhere, it was: Rockets 112, Nets 87; Thunder 115, Warriors 114 (in overtime); and Kings 116, Suns 113.

In Cleveland, Ohio, Miami clawed back to tie the game at 83-83 with 7:01 to go, but Cleveland went on a 12-0 run to earn its surprising victory.

JJ Hickson scored 21 points and Anthony Parker had 20 for the Cavaliers, who were embarrassed by James and the Heat 90-118 on December 2 - when Cleveland fans unleashed their hatred on the superstar.

"All I want to say is you (fans) deserve this," Parker said. "You guys deserve it because you've been so great for us all year".

Dwyane Wade scored 24 points and Mike Bibby added 23 for the Heat (51-23) who fell half a game behind the Boston Celtics for second in the East.

In Newark, New Jersey, Kyle Lowry had 16 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds as Houston moved within two games of the final playoff berth in the Western Conference with a victory over New Jersey.

Kevin Martin added 20 points as the Rockets (39-35) posted their sixth win in seven games and inched closer to idle eighth-place Memphis (41-33) with eight games left in the regular season.

Brook Lopez had 22 points for the Nets, who lost their third in a row and seventh in eight games. Deron Williams missed his sixth straight game for New Jersey (23-50), which has lost 50 games for the second straight season.
