Chandler guides Nuggets past Lakers
WILSON Chandler scored 23 points in place of the injured Danilo Gallinari as the Denver Nuggets downed the Los Angeles Lakers 119-108 at home on Monday night.
Gallinari, the Nuggets' leading scorer, sat out with a bruised left thigh. He wasn't needed as Ty Lawson chipped in with 22 points to help the Nuggets win their ninth straight home game, ended the Lakers' four-game winning streak and took the season series from their long-time nemesis 3-1.
Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 29 points, and Dwight Howard added 15 points and 14 boards but missed 11 of his last 12 free throws.
Boston's Paul Pierce scored 26 points, including seven straight in overtime as the Celtics beat the Utah Jazz 110-107 to close out a five-game road trip.
Al Horford had 23 points and 22 rebounds at Atlanta as the Hawks beat the Detroit Pistons 114-103 for its fifth win in six games.
Josh Smith added 23 points for the Hawks, who were ahead 61-51 at halftime and led by as many as 26 in the third quarter.
In Toronto, rookie Bradley Beal scored 20 points and Nene had 11 points and nine rebounds to lead the Washington Wizards past the Toronto Raptors 90-84 for their third straight victory.
"I feel a lot more comfortable and I have a lot more confidence as well," said Beal, who was the third overall draft pick last June. "It's a learning process for me and it's been like that the whole year. Now the game is slowing down for me, so I'm making easier reads. I'm starting to learn how teams are playing me and I'm just playing off of that."
A.J. Price and Martell Webster each added 12 points for the Wizards, who won for just the fifth time in 27 road games this season.
