Clippers stun Mavericks with epic comeback
The Los Angeles Clippers came from 17 points down with only 4-1/2 minutes to play to beat Dallas 129-127 in a Wednesday thriller, moving two games clear atop the NBA Pacific Division.
The Clippers padded their lead over Golden State, which was beaten at home by Denver, while Washington recorded a surprise victory over Miami and San Antonio hung on to edge Utah and continue its winning streak.
Los Angeles’ J.J. Redick scored a career-high 33 points and Matt Barnes added 25 for the Clippers, who improved to 18-3 at home but had to fight hard to overhaul the Mavericks.
Dirk Nowitzki scored 27 points for Dallas, which could not hold a 123-106 lead.
Denver’s Nate Robinson scored 14 of his 24 points in the fourth quarter to steer the Nuggets to a 123-116 win at Golden State.
J.J. Hickson grabbed a season-high 24 rebounds for Denver, which outshot its opponent 54 to 43 percent and gave first-year coach Brian Shaw a victory in his home town of Oakland.
Washington saw its 34-point lead against Miami whittled away to single digits but hung on for a 114-97 victory.
John Wall scored 25 points, and Bradley Beal and Nene had 19 apiece to lead seven players in double figures for the Wizards, who shot a season-high 55 percent and closed the game with a 17-9 run.
San Antonio pushed its winning streak to six games by rallying for a 109-105 victory over the Utah Jazz.
Tony Parker had 25 points and nine assists while Marco Belinelli, Tim Duncan and Kawhi Leonard all had 15 for the Spurs.
Elsewhere, it was: Trail Blazers 32, Cavaliers 96; Rockets 103, Pelicans 100; Suns 121, Lakers 114; Celtics 88, Raptors 83; Kings 111, Timberwolves 108; 76ers 95, Bobcats 92; Bulls 128, Magic 125 (3OT); and Grizzlies 82, Bucks 77.
