Durant rallies Thunder past Sixers
OKLAHOMA City's Kevin Durant scored some key late points to steer the Thunder to a 92-88 win over the host Philadelphia 76ers in yesterday's clash of NBA divisional leaders.
Coming off his MVP performance in the All-Star game, Durant struggled a bit. The two-time scoring champion shot 7 of 18. But he made key baskets and free throws and added a clutch steal late in the game as the Thunder overcame a seven-point fourth-quarter deficit.
He finished with 23 points while Russell Westbrook had 22 points and 13 rebounds as the NBA leaders won their sixth straight game.
Andre Iguodala and Jrue Holiday each had 18 points for the 76ers.
GRIZZLIES 96, MAVERICKS 85
In Memphis, Marc Gasol had 22 points and 11 rebounds in Memphis' win over Dallas.
Mike Conley added 20 points and 10 assists for the Grizzlies, who captalized on the absence of Dallas star Dirk Nowitzki. The German scored only one point before leaving the game early in the second quarter with lower back tightness.
Jason Terry's 18 points led the defending champion Mavericks, who lost their third straight.
WARRIORS 85, HAWKS 82
In Atlanta, David Lee scored 22 points, including the go-ahead basket with 30 seconds remaining, as Golden State answered a late comeback by Atlanta.
The Warriors kept the lead until Zaza Pachulia scored with 52 seconds remaining for a 78-78 tie. Lee then drove past Pachulia to score with 30 seconds remaining to give the lead back to Golden State.
Donta Ellis had 24 points and eight assists, while Lee had 12 rebounds for a double-double.
Joe Johnson, returning from a knee injury, led Atlanta with 18 points. The Hawks were held to a season-low 34.1 percent shooting from the field.
KNICKS 120, CAVALIERS 103
In New York, Carmelo Anthony scored 22 points as New York turned around the game with its reserves to beat Cleveland.
Jeremy Lin had 19 points and 13 assists but it was bench player Steve Novak who had the biggest impact as the Knicks turned a 17-point deficit into an easy win, outscoring the Cavaliers 71-42 in the second half.
New York didn't lead until Novak (17 points) made consecutive 3-pointers to put them up with 2:52 left in the third quarter, then dominated the fourth quarter.
The Knicks recorded a 10-5 record in February; their first 10-win February since 1996-97.
Antawn Jamison had 23 points and 10 rebounds for Cleveland, which has lost three in a row.
CELTICS 102, BUCKS 96
In Boston, Rajon Rondo had 15 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists to record his third triple-double of the season and lead Boston past Milwaukee.
Rondo had six rebounds and five assists in the third quarter, when the Celtics went on a 20-4 run to turn a five-point deficit into a double-digit lead. The Bucks cut it to two points in the final minute, but Kevin Garnett made four free throws in the last 15 seconds to clinch it.
Garnett scored 25 points with 10 rebounds for Boston, which returned to .500.
Ersan Ilyasova had 25 points with 10 rebounds for the Bucks.
MAGIC 102, WIZARDS 95
In Washington, Ryan Anderson had 23 points and 15 rebounds as Orlando pulled away late in the fourth quarter to beat Washington.
Anderson scored 11 in the fourth quarter and led seven players in double figures for the Magic, who blew a 17-point first-quarter lead against the lowly Wizards, committed 18 turnovers.
The visitors survived an off night for Dwight Howard, who was 4 for 9 from the field and 6 for 11 from the free-throw line, yet still finished with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
John Wall had 33 points to the lead the Wizards, who lost their sixth straight.
RAPTORS 95, HORNETS 84
In New Orleans, Linas Kleiza and DeMar DeRozan scored 21 points apiece as Toronto rallied to beat New Orleans.
The Raptors, who trailed 69-62 after tying a season low for points in a quarter with 11 in the third, broke loose for 33 in the fourth, matching a season best for any quarter. They hit their first eight shots and took control by scoring 22 points in the first 4:22.
Kleiza tied a career high with five 3-pointers off the bench, including three in the fourth.
Marco Belinelli had 20 points for the Hornets, who missed 13 consecutive shots in the fourth quarter and lost for the 16th straight time after trailing at halftime.
PISTONS 109, BOBCATS 94
In Auburn Hills, Michigan, Rodney Stuckey scored 29 points as Detroit cruised past lowly Charlotte.
Greg Monroe added 19 points and a career-high 20 rebounds for the the Pistons.
Corey Maggette had 17 points for Charlotte, which has lost 19 of 20 and lost Bismack Biyombo to a shoulder strain.
