Ginobili Extends Spurs Contract

THE San Antonio Spurs have agreed on a contract extension that will keep shooting guard Manu Ginobili with the National Basketball Association team for another two years, the Argentinian said on Wednesday.

"Thrilled to announce that as I always hoped, I'm gonna stay with the @spurs for two more years," Ginobili tweeted.

The 35-year-old Ginobili hinted at retirement during the playoffs which saw the Spurs make it all the way to the finals where they lost in seven games to the Miami Heat.

Financial terms of the deal were not announced by Ginobili, who averaged 11.8 points, 4.6 assists and 3.4 rebounds in 60 games this past season. In the playoffs, he averaged 11.5 points, 5.0 assists and 3.7 rebounds.

Ginobili won a gold medal with the Argentine national team at the 2004 Olympics in Athens.
