Guangdong stays alive with win
AARON Brooks scored 30 points to help the Guangdong South China Tigers beat the Beijing Ducks 111-93 in the third game of the Chinese Basketball Association finals last night at home, narrowing the gap in the best-of-seven series to 1-2.
Former NBA star Brooks also pulled down four rebounds and had five assists to go with national team player Zhu Fangyu's 26 points, five rebounds and three assists for Guangdong.
The Ducks' Stephon Marbury scored a game-high 39 points with Randolph Morris adding 21 points and 14 rebounds but no other player finished in double digits last night.
Game 4 in the series is scheduled for Beijing on Wednesday night.
No team has ever come back from a 0-2 hole to win the CBA finals. But Li Chunjiang, the Guangdong coach, is hoping to make history.
"It's the third game and so far we have only recovered to the level of what we played in the semifinals, about 70 to 75 percent," Li told reporters.
