Hollins, Brown fined for squabbles with referees
HEAD coaches Lionel Hollins of the Memphis Grizzlies and Larry Brown of the Charlotte Bobcats have each been fined for "improper conduct towards game officials," the NBA said yesterday.
Hollins was fined US$25,000 for publicly criticizing the referees after the Grizzlies' loss to visiting Orlando in a pre-season game on Oct. 12, the league said in a statement.
Brown was fined US$35,000 for verbally abusing the referees and failing to leave the court in a timely manner after his ejection during Charlotte's game in Atlanta the same night.
He was fined an additional US$25,000 for publicly criticizing the referees after the game. The team was also fined US$60,000 for Brown's actions, the NBA said.
