Jaguars flourish late to rip the Sharks

THE Shanghai Sharks road woes continued last night as they lost 93-84 to the Liaoning Jaguars, who after a slow start, found their momentum in the second half of the game.

Led by Marcus Landry, the Sharks embarked on a blistering first quarter in which the American quickly accumulated 11 points from all over the court. Shanghai also made sure that they kept a close eye on the imposing Han Dejun, and the away side managed to largely neutralize the impact of the in-form Liaoning player and finish the first 12 minutes leading 28-19.

The Sharks continued to score at a frantic pace as the halftime interval beckoned but their intensity was now matched by Liaoning, who were being roared on by their supporters and soon began to take the game to their guests after the introduction of Josh Powell from the bench. The former LA Lakers forward instantly galvanized his team and also put a strain on a Sharks defense who already had their hands full keeping Han under control. By the time the teams went in at half-time, the Jaguars were ahead 47-43.

In other games around the CBA, Aaron Brooks scored a game high 31 points as the Guangdong Tigers scored 42 points in the fourth quarter to see off the Tianjin Lions 133-124. Meanwhile the poor form of the Zhejiang Guangsha Lions and the Beijing Ducks continued as both sides lost on the road. The Ducks were beaten 114-111 by the Shanxi Dragons while Guangsha Lions lost 93-74 to the Jillin Tigers in Changchun.

The Sharks have lost two straight and have a 12-10 record with 10 games remaining in the regular season.
