Marbury leads Beijing into CBA finals
STEPHON Marbury scored a game-high 30 points and had nine rebounds and eight assists as the Beijing Ducks cruised past Shanxi Brave Dragons 3-2 with a 110-98 home victory on Sunday to make it to the CBA finals for the first time.
As the buzzer went off, Marbury covered his face with his hands and broke down into tears. During his 16-year basketball career, it was the first time he made it into any finals. The 35-year-old Marbury, who played 13 seasons in the NBA with Minnesota, New Jersey, Phoenix, New York and Boston, is regarded as a hero after leading Beijing to the CBA semifinals in his first season with the Ducks. Randolph Morris added 27 points and 10 rebounds, while Shanxi top scorer Marcus Williams could only manage 25 points. Beijing will take on Guangdong Southern Tigers on Wednesday in the best-of-seven finals.
