Nets beat Raptors 97-83 to tie 3-3
The Brooklyn Nets lied on their veterans to beat the Toronto Raptors 97-83 on Friday to tie the first round playoff series 3-3 at home.
Game 7 will be played at Toronto on Sunday.
Guard Deron Williams led the Nets with 23 points. Joe Johnson, who plays his 13th season, had 17 points, while Kevin Garnett (19th season) and Paul Pierce (16th) chipped in 13 and 12 points respectively.
The home team opened the game smoothly as they shot 13-out-of-19 in the field to lead 34-19 in the first quarter, when the Raptors made only 8-out-of-21 during that span.
The Raptors never found their attacking power as they shot 38.5 percent throughout the game. They did everything else as usual - offensive rebounds, fast-breaks, second-chance shots and free-throws, but just could not shoot the ball well.
DeMar DeRozan had 28 points but his teammate gave little help. Kyle Lowry was 4-out-of-16 in the field to score 11 points, the only other Raptors' player who scored over 10 points.
The Nets led as many as 26 points and 79-59 to end the third quarter. Coach Jason Kidd rested all the veteran starters for almost five minutes in the fourth quarter when the Raptors cut the lead to 10.
That's all the Raptors could do and when the Nets put back the starters, the visiting team had no more chance.
