Portland’s Lillard in for Griffin as an All-Star

PORTLAND Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard was named on Sunday to replace injured Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin in next weekend’s 64th National Basketball Association All-Star Game.
The Clippers announced earlier that Griffin was to undergo right elbow surgery yesterday to remove a bacterial infection and Lillard replaces him on the Western Conference squad that will face the Eastern Conference elite next Sunday in New York. Lillard, who made his All-Star Game debut last year, is averaging 21.6 points and 6.3 assists a game for the Trail Blazers, who also boast forward LaMarcus Aldridge on the All-Star roster.
