Raptors lose game to Cavs, Bosh to injury

FLATTENED by an inadvertent elbow, Toronto All-Star forward Chris Bosh broke a bone in his face yesterday as the Raptors' playoff hopes took a blow with a 113-101 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Bosh was accidentally struck by Cleveland's Antawn Jamison in the first three minutes. Bosh, who had blood dripping from his nose and mouth as he was assisted from the floor, was taken to the Cleveland Clinic for a CT scan.

Following the game, the Raptors said in a statement that tests showed Bosh suffered a "maxilla and nasal fracture to the right side of his face." Bosh, who returned to Quicken Loans Arena in the fourth quarter, will not travel with the team. Instead, he was to stay in a hospital overnight for further evaluation.

Jamison scored 20 points - 12 in the third when the Cavs opened a double-digit lead - and Anthony Parker had a season-high 18.

LeBron James scored 19 with 13 assists for Cleveland, which has wrapped up the NBA's best record and home-court advantage throughout the playoffs.

Jarrett Jack scored 23 for the Raptors, who also lost forward Antoine Wright in the third quarter with an ankle injury.

Toronto's loss clinched a playoff spot for the Miami Heat.

Bucks 79, Bulls 74

At Chicago, John Salmons scored 26 points against his former team as Milwaukee secured a playoff spot by beating Chicago.

Wizards 112, Warriors 94

At Washington, Don Nelson came up way short in his first attempt at breaking Lenny Wilkens' record for NBA coaching victories as Golden State fell behind by double digits before the game was 3 minutes old and lost to Washington.

Nelson is stuck at 1,332 career victories.

Nick Young scored a season-high 29 points, JaVale McGee set career highs with 25 points and 15 rebounds, Shaun Livingston matched a career high with 21 points on 9-for-11 shooting, and Andray Blatche added 21 points, giving the Wizards four 20-point scorers for the first time since December 2007.

Bobcats 109, Hawks 100

At Charlotte, North Carolina, Gerald Wallace scored 28 points and Boris Diaw nearly had a triple-double as Charlotte ensured its first non-losing season in its six-year history with a victory over Atlanta.

Diaw had 17 points, nine rebounds and nine assists, while a sore Stephen Jackson added 15 points for the Bobcats (41-36), who inched closer to their first playoff berth and can finish no worse than .500.

Atlanta's hopes of reaching 50 wins for the first time in 12 years were squashed as it fell behind by 20 points after the first quarter.

Maurice Evans scored 20 points for the Hawks.

Knicks 104, Celtics 101

At New York, Danilo Gallinari scored a career-high 31 points, including the go-ahead basket with 36 seconds left, and Earl Barron had 17 points and a career-best 18 rebounds as New York handed Boston its fourth loss in five games.

David Lee had the clinching basket and added 13 points and 11 boards for the Knicks, who won their second straight and temporarily avoided a third consecutive 50-loss season.

Ray Allen scored 17 points for the Celtics.

Pistons 124, 76ers 103

At Philadelphia, Charlie Villanueva scored 25 points and Rodney Stuckey added 24 as Detroit snapped an 11-game losing streak with a victory over Philadelphia.

Marreese Speights scored 21 points for the struggling Sixers, who have lost four straight.

Rockets 113, Grizzlies 103

At Memphis, Tennessee, Kevin Martin scored 29 points, and Aaron Brooks added 17 points and seven assists to lead Houston over Memphis.
