Rators acquire Australian Andersen from Rockets

THE Toronto Raptors continued to rework their roster acquiring the rights to Australian centre David Andersen from the Houston Rockets in exchange for a second round draft pick in 2015, the teams said yesterday.

Taken with the 37th overall selection by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2002 draft, Andersen spent most of his career in Europe before joining the Rockets last season, averaging 5.8 points and 3.3 rebounds in his rookie NBA campaign.

"David is a skilled big that gives us some insurance at the backup centre position," Raptors general manager Bryan Colangelo said in a statement. "He will also bring a veteran presence and savvy to a relatively young team."

Andersen claimed three Euroleague titles with Virtus Bolonga (2001) and CSKA Moscow (2006 and 2008) and was a member of the 2004 and 2008 Australian Olympic teams.
