Rivers to return for seventh season as Celtics coach
BOSTON head coach Doc Rivers has agreed to return to the Celtics for a seventh season, the team said yesterday.
Rivers led the Celtics to their 17th NBA championship in 2008 but lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in a seven-game NBA Finals earlier this month.
"Doc is re-energized and enthusiastic about coming back to make another run at winning a championship with the Celtics," Boston general manager Danny Ainge said on the team's website (http://www.nba.com/celtics/).
Rivers, who coached in Orlando before moving to Boston for the 2004-05 season, has a career coaching record of 451-380.
