Rockets beat Nets again in China Games
THE Houston Rockets beat the New Jersey Nets 95-85 yesterday in the second stop of the 2010 NBA China Games when the bench players stole the show of the night.
Rockets bench played a big role in Wednesday's 91-81 win at Beijing. Yesterday they fought back Nets' surge-up every time.
Brad Miller came back from the injury list to lead the Rockets' bench by 11 points as the whole substitutes chipping in 39 points throughout the game.
Kevin Martin led the Rockets starters by 16 points while Yao Ming had 10 points in another 18-minute game.
Yao Ming said, "My body is feeling good. My court time is extended. I played 12 minutes before we came to China, and now I had 18 minutes. It'll be 24 as we go back to the US. I'm getting better day by day."
Rockets took the first lead on Shane Battier's hook halfway into the first quarter on 18-16. The bench players took over the game as they scored 20 points in the first half.
The Nets' bench scored 15 points with Terrence Williams having 13 as they trailed 53-42 before the break.
A 15-4 run put the nets back on the track by 63-61 over six minutes after the second half and they did it several times in the following game. But the Rockets' bench was unstoppable.
They continued their amazing performance to regain comfortable lead in the following game when their counterpart having only five points in the second half.
The Nets were led by center Brook Lopez with 20 points and nine rebounds, while Anthony Morrow adding 19 points. Devin Harris and Williams scored 16 apiece.
This was the fifth year the NBA held preseason games in China, and the second time the game came to Guangzhou after the city hosted one of the games in 2007.
