Sharks run past Lions to stretch winning run
THE Shanghai Sharks cruised to another victory yesterday defeating the Shandong Lions 92-75 with a brilliant team effort.
Mike Harris was sensational leading the Sharks with 36 points knocking down jumpers and throwing down highlight dunks.
But the entire Shanghai team stood out shooting 54 percent from the game.
The Sharks started slowly but soon warmed up and it was off to the races as they streaked down the court for layups.
Shanghai tallied 11 transition points in the quarter, not including Meng Lingyuan taking the ball the length of the court for a layup over three Shandong defenders as the horn sounded.
Meng played with energy that bordered on reckless crashing into the sideline advertisements trying to save the ball and committing five turnovers.
But he also scored 13 points and inspired the team on the fast break.
Shanghai head coach Daniel Panaggio called the victory bittersweet because Ryan Forehan-Kelly went down in the second quarter with an ankle injury. He will have an MRI today.
Young guard Feng Tian stepped up in Forehan-Kelly's absence scoring 16 points. Liu Wei had 10 points and 3 assists.
Former NBA player Alan Anderson tried to keep the Shandong team in the game scoring 25 points, but it wasn't enough to overcome his team's horrid shooting, hitting just 6 of 30 three pointers.
Othello Hunter chipped in with 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Wu Ke had 13 points.
The Sharks have held their last ten opponents under 100 points and pulled out wins in eight of the games. They will try to extend the streak on Wednesday at home against Foshan.
