Sharks set to sign Kelly for season
THE Shanghai Sharks is likely to sign American small forward Ryan Kelly as the second foreign player for the coming 2011-2012 CBA season, head coach Daniel Panaggio said yesterday.
Panaggio hailed the 31-year-old Kelly as an intelligent and talented player. Kelly, who previously played for the Jiangsu Dragons in the 2004-05 and 2007-08 seasons, played three pre-season games for the Sharks in the last few weeks and was present as a team member during a sponsor's event yesterday. The Sharks have signed Taiwanese center Tseng Wen-ting last month and renewed the contract of American forward Mike Harris. Sharks' chief investor Yao Ming is likely to spend more time with the team this season, manager Qian Anke said yesterday.
