Sharks sign Landry to replace injured Ryan
THE Shanghai Sharks have signed former NBA player Marcus Landry as a replacement for their injured small forward Ryan Forehan-Kelly. The 26-year-old American will fly into the city tomorrow and is expected to make his Shanghai debut in the CBA game against the Zhejiang Lions on Sunday.
"The team was on the lookout for a player on an urgent basis as soon as we learnt of the seriousness of Ryan's injury," said Zhang Chi, a spokesman for the Sharks. "Fortunately the team will enjoy a bye in the next round, which will give time for Marcus to adjust to the team." Landry joined the New York Knicks in 2009 and was later traded to the Boston Celtics in 2010. The 2.01-meter small forward later joined his brother Carl at the Sacramento Kings but was released and signed with the Kings' NBA D-League affiliate, the Reno Bighorns. Before joining the Sharks, Landry ended his contract with the Phoenix Suns. His brother Carl used to be Yao Ming's teammate at the Houston Rockets.
