Spurs, Parker punish Mavs

The San Antonio Spurs cruised to a 112-90 victory over the Dallas Mavericks behind a 25-point performance from Tony Parker in an all-Texas battle on Wednesday.
Parker added seven assists and Marco Belinelli came off the bench to score 17 points for the Spurs, who snapped the Mavericks’ four game winning streak.
“A combination of playing pretty darn good defense tonight and them having a bad shooting night ended up in a good win for us on a back-to-back,” said Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich.
Tim Duncan added 16 points and 13 rebounds for the Spurs, who held Dirk Nowitzki to eight points on three-of-14 shooting.
Monta Ellis had a solid game with 21 points and four assists.
The Spurs had to play without star Manu Ginobili, who skipped the contest due to a hamstring injury.
“That is why they are the Spurs,” said Dallas forward Brandan Wright. “They are used to winning with key players out.”
Among the day’s other games, Atlanta started strongly to beat league leader Indiana, Brooklyn ended Golden State’s 10-game winning streak, and Phoenix stunned Minnesota with a one-point victory.
Atlanta held off a weary Indiana to win 97-87, with Kyle Korver scoring 17 points and Pero Antic 16.
The Hawks extended Indiana’s misery at Philips Arena, where the Pacers have not won since 2006. They dropped their 12th in a row in Atlanta, the team’s longest active road losing streak against any team.
Brooklyn’s Joe Johnson scored 27 points in the Nets’ season-high fourth-straight victory, beating Golden State 102-98.
Phoenix’s Gerald Green made a baseline jump shot with 3.9 seconds remaining to give the Suns a 104-103 win at Minnesota.
In other games, it was: Rockets 113, Lakers 99; Trail Blazers 110, Magic 94; Raptors 112, Pistons 91; and Clippers 111, Celtics 105.
