IBA lifts ban on S. Korean fighters
THE International Boxing Association has lifted the suspension of South Korean amateur fighters, clearing the way for them to compete at the Asian Games in Guangzhou, China, in November and the 2012 London Olympics.
The country's Olympic committee said yesterday that the association, known as AIBA, said it would also lift suspension of the Korean Amateur Boxing Federation once its new leadership is elected next Thursday. The move came a week after AIBA decided to provisionally exclude the Korean Amateur Boxing Federation after it said its former president Yoo Jae-joon caused serious damage to the body's image and reputation.
