Injured Haye postpones bout

Former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye has postponed his all-British fight with Tyson Fury next Saturday because of an injury.

Hayemaker Boxing says in a statement that Haye, 32, went to a London hospital on Friday after sustaining a deep cut above his left eyebrow while sparring. The injury required six stitches, which will remain in place for five to six days. Haye was to fight Fury in Manchester, and said: “To everyone who has bought tickets, booked hotels, and followed this fight since it was announced, there is absolutely nothing I can do except apologize.” Since losing his WBA title to Wladimir Klitschko in July 2011, Haye (26-2) has fought only once. Haye withdrew from his June fight with Manuel Charr of Germany after hurting his left hand in training.
