Ioka defends crown
JAPAN’S Kazuto Ioka beat Thai challenger Noknoi Sitthiprasert in Osaka yesterday, defending his World Boxing Association flyweight title for the fifth time. The 28-year-old champion did not suffer a single major facial mark in the match against Sitthiprasert, 30, a veteran making his world debut. Ioka was given a one-point penalty for a low blow in the third round. But judges gave him the win, 117-110, 116-111, and 117-110. Ioka’s record is now 22 wins, with 13 knockouts, against one loss. It was the fifth defeat for Sitthiprasert who has 62 wins, 38 of them knockouts.
