Akmal gets 1-game ban
Pakistan batsman Umar Akmal has been given a one-match ban for violating the dress code in a domestic game, so will miss the first Twenty20 against New Zealand on Friday.
Pakistan team manager Intikhab Alam said Akmal sported two logos instead of the single logo permitted under competition rules during the final of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. The team left for New Zealand early yesterday to play three Twenty20 and three one-day games. Akmal is part of only the Twenty20 squad. He was dropped for the recent Twenty20 series against England for his involvement in unspecified “immoral activities” during a domestic match in Hyderabad before the PCB included him after he was cleared by the police.
