China adviser

THE China Cricket Association yesterday appointed Pakistan's former test captain Javed Miandad as its senior adviser on cricketing affairs. "It's an honor for me and for Pakistan," Miandad said. Miandad quit as director general Pakistan Cricket Board in January but was reinstated on Monday after meeting with the board's chairman Ijaz Butt.

Miandad met CCA officials last month as he was appointed Pakistan's cricket ambassador to China by President Asif Ali Zardari, who is also patron of the PCB. "They are passionate about cricket and CCA is trying to let more and more youngsters learn this game," Miandad said.
