England canters to easy win

PAUL Collingwood and Alastair Cook hit half-centuries for England which cruised to a six-wicket victory over Bangladesh in the first one-day international in Dhaka on Sunday.

Their efforts overshadowed a fine century by Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal, who hit 125 as the hosts were bowled out for 228.

England eased past its target with four overs to spare.

Collingwood hit an unbeaten 75 after Cook, leading England in the game, laid the foundations with 64.

Naeem Islam had debutante Craig Kieswetter (19) stumped and skipper Shakib al-Hasan removed Kevin Pietersen (one) before Collingwood shared an 88-run stand with Eoin Morgan (33).

Prior (30 not out) then joined Collingwood to guide England home.

In Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, Zimbabwe's spinners led the touring side to a 26-run victory over the West Indies in a low-scoring Twenty20 International on Sunday.

Zimbabwe survived an early batting collapse to rally to 105 all out off 19.5 overs in the one-off match.

But despite chasing a modest total, the West Indies' run chase never got off the ground and the hosts were restricted to 79 for seven, their lowest ever total at this level.
