SRI Lankan cricket officials are querying fast bowler Lasith Malinga's injury claims, saying it is "awkward" that he continues to play in the lucrative Indian Premier League but is unfit for the upcoming test series in England.
Chief selector Duleep Mendis said that Malinga has written to the board making himself unavailable for the three tests starting May 26. Mendis says selectors will ask Malinga to return home immediately to begin rehabilitation to be able to play for his country.
