Ponting Sits Out With Broken Finger
CAPTAIN Ricky Ponting is confident of overcoming a broken finger in time to lead Australia in the fourth Ashes test against England starting on December 26.
A fractured little finger on his left hand prevented Ponting from taking the field on his 36th birthday yesterday. "I am a really good chance of playing," Ponting said. "I'll be alright. I am not going to be silly and put myself ahead of the team. I will make the decision on the morning of the game and do the right thing by the team."
Australia's selectors named an unchanged team for the fourth test, but with the caveat that another player can be called in if Ponting's injury does not heal as expected.
