Rain to Sri Lanka's rescue in drawn test
THE second cricket test between Sri Lanka and Australia ended in a draw yesterday after rain washed out more than a session on the final day in Pallekele, frustrating the tourists' hopes of wrapping up the three-match series.
Sri Lanka reached 317-6 - a lead of 80 runs in the second innings - when rain interrupted play during the second session. No more play was possible. A total of 136 overs were lost in the match because of rain and early stoppages due to bad light. Seamer Ryan Harris had best figures of 3-54 for Australia. Australia leads the series 1-0, with the third game to be played in Colombo starting on Friday.
