A RIDER’S death at the Gent-Wevelgem classic overshadowed world champion Peter Sagan’s victory.
The Wanty-Gobert team confirmed the death of Belgian rider Antoine Demoitie after a fall during the race and hit by a motorbike.
He was taken to a hospital in French city of Lille. The team posted a photograph of him on its Twitter and Facebook pages yesterday, accompanied by the text “Antoine Demoitie 1990-2016.”
